Richard Stallman 在 10 号一封主题为 Real men don’t attack straw men 的 email 里说，“我为什么不推荐 OpenBSD 呢，因为我一贯认为 non-free 软件是 无良 兼 反社会的，而 OpenBSD 包含或推荐用户去安装 non-free 软件，所以 OpenBSD 我不推荐。”Richard 在此信中说他承认 OpenBSD 不包含 non-free，不过他认为 ports 推荐用户安装 non-free，那。。。。。。
此言激怒了 Theo de Raadt 等人，Theo 的回信极具暴力娱乐色彩：
You are just plain wrong. And you are not enough of a man to admit that you are wrong.
I may be unfriendly at times, but you are a power-misusing hypocritical liar who attacks projects that try harder than any others to only make free software available.
